Hardcore punk, often referred to as simply hardcore, is a subgenre of punk rock that originated primarily in North America (though, early examples could be found throughout the world) in the late 1970s. The new sound was generally faster, thicker, and heavier than earlier punk rock. Early hardcore has a quick tempo with drums and vocals in time, whereas modern hardcore punk has drums and vocals which may not be on beat with the tempo.
In the United States, the music genre that became known as hardcore punk originated in different areas in the early 1980s, with notable centers of activity in California,Washington, D.C., New York City, Michigan, and Boston.

Since their inception in 1995, Bridge Nine Records has turned from a hobby to one of the biggest and best music brands in the world. What was once a once man operation has grown into a nine-person full-time operation headquartered in Peabody, MA (just outside the label's original home in Boston) with affiliates and distributors worldwide.
Bridge Nine's fiercely independent do-it-yourself work ethic is one of the biggest reasons the label has been able to persevere in a tumultuous music business climate in addition to growing significantly in a time when labels are contracting rapidly. The label has been featured in some of the biggest magazines in music today including Alternative Press and Revolver.
Just fourteen years ago, an avid punk and hardcore music fan named Chris Wrenn started putting out 7" records by some of his favorite local bands. "The label started out pretty slowly", said Wrenn.

Many bands feature on the website Bridge9 have influenced many local bands, such as Ten Years, and Dungeons which is one of the old local bands which inspired Ten Years to start their own band, on the Bridge 9 site, it has some of their idols featured along with merchandise, show times, and videos. Many of the videos made by hardcore bands, are black and white, or purely gig footage with very grim shots, on a hand held camera. Without a lot of care or attention. You do rarely get the ones which have been put in a specific location and the band have to act up to a story.
Considering hardcore and punk originated from the era of the Nazis these people in the videos are typical big burly men with shaven heads and a irate and tough attitude, full of anger. Then there is the reasoning for the vocals because they just shout to get a point across. Another characteristics of the hardcore genre is their way of dancing, it's called 2 stepping o moshing and you will see it a lot at live shows. Moshing is something back when the Nazis were around and used to do when they listened to punk thrash and hardcore music and it still goes on today.
